Why your audience doesn’t buy?
You might be an above-average copywriter like me. But it’s still a very long journey towards achieving what you’re constantly aiming for: high conversion rate. This business is becoming more difficult to profit from. What’s keeping your targeted audience from buying your products?
There are people who believe that “selling” is a natural gift that only few lucky ones have. Some feel they don’t have what it takes to become a successful salesperson.
But I beg to differ. It’s something that we can all acquire through learning. The learning curve is not as hard as you think if you put your heart and mind to it.
I know you’ll like this part. You want to possess the divine knowledge of conversion. This marks the difference between success and failure. The communication aspect of writing and copywriting will play a significant role in enticing or discouraging a potential reader.
Let us understand the reason behind the failure why your copy does not convert.
- You don’t have what the readers want- Well, most of the time, people browse the internet to search for information that they need. No matter how your copy looks convincing, it’s a surefire fail when they don’t want it. You got all this interesting ideas going over your head. The problem is, your audience doesn’t care. Unique is good but do not make this as a hindrance to the point of becoming isolated from your targeted readers.
- Your readers are confused- Imagine being bombarded with so many foods on a single platter. They all seem delicious. You just can’t figure out which food to eat first. Similarly, your product isn’t the only product there is in the market. There are countless others ready to beat you out in the race. In the face of many confusing options, your readers will probably don’t want to buy anyway unless you’ve got something to relieve them of their confusion.
- Your readers don’t see the benefits- Sure your readers do read them. But the communication does not bite enough to convert him into an actual buyer. Why? Because he doesn’t see himself as a customer. Send a clear message to the reader that you have what he wants. Tell him the benefits/rewards. And then guide him on what to do to reap the benefits.
- Call your readers to action- Sometimes plain command will get your readers to do what you want them to do. It’s simple and explicit.
- You readers think you are lying- This is a common perception among hesitant buyers. They think you are not trustworthy enough to be believable. You can’t blame them. They have been lied to so many times in the past. So your task involves putting back that trust with your interesting content. Make it appear believable enough to be true. Just don’t overdo. It may sound like too much of an embellishment that they can notice you’re just sugarcoating your content.
I’m lousy at pitching sales. I admit. But you see, I learn. So don’t dwell on your weakness. Work on it.
