Unorthodox Ways To Brilliant Writing

A little fine-tuning on details can make your good writing into a brilliant one

You love to write. But it doesn’t have to end there. You want to be better. Your room’s ambiance stimulates the most creative part of your brain. Then suddenly you feel highly inspired as the words just flow out from nowhere. You have filled your computer screen with your scribbles.

You start out with a good topic to write about. Then you exactly know what the readers want. You are blessed with a considerable degree of creative writing ability. When you click on publish, you end up having quite an interesting piece of writing.

But you could do more than that. You could exceed your existing writing talent. Fine-tuning your write up, embellishing it with a few important add-ons, and deleting the unnecessary should make it “brilliant”.

Raise the level of your writing skills by taking note of these unorthodox yet simple tips of making a brilliant writing:

  • Write like you’re drunk- What…? Fascinated or perplexed? I respect you if you don’t drink when you write. I am not suggesting that you should be out in the bar taking a few shots of booze. It simply means “Be yourself”. Inject a dose of your own personality in your writing. You see people tend to become honest and real when they are drunk.
  • Let your work sit overnight- I know your excitement runs high at this moment. You feel magnificent after writing the most brilliant masterpiece a writer could ever write. But wait… your current enthusiasm could mask your ability to identify errors in your writing. Sleep on it for 24 hours and the next day, you’ll find out that some parts need fine-tuning.
  • Let someone else read your work aloud- Trust me this one works. Although I don’t do this quite often. When someone else reads it to you, you’ll identify which sentences and phrases sound awkward. It’s like your listening to how your online readers read it once it’s posted.
  • Don’t write your sentences too long- Limit one thought per sentence. Very long sentences could confuse the readers. You’ll lose them instead of attracting them. Make each sentence brief. Avoid using unnecessary embellishments.
  • Avoid writing in passive voice- It’s lifeless and boring. Readers want some real action going on.

Which one sounds interesting?

Passive: The man is bitten by the dog.

Active:  The dog bites the man.

You bet.

These tips are pretty simple yet practical. Whether you’re an amateur or a pro, these simple gems of wisdom are timeless.
